Hosted-service terms
These terms cover the website and hosted ClientShare product. The self-hosted open-source project is governed by its own license.
Workspace responsibility
Customers are responsible for the users, files, and lawful access decisions inside their hosted workspace.
Updates and questions
Questions about these terms can be routed through the hosted access form until a dedicated support address is published.
1. Scope and acceptance
These Terms of Service govern your use of the ClientShare website and hosted service. By accessing or using the hosted service, you agree to these terms.
If you deploy or use the self-hosted open-source project, the applicable open-source license governs that codebase. These Terms are aimed at the hosted product and public website.
2. Accounts and workspace responsibility
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, the confidentiality of your credentials, and the activity that occurs under your hosted workspace unless it results directly from our breach of these Terms.
- Use accurate and up-to-date signup, billing, and account information.
- Protect login credentials, invitation links, and administrator access.
- Make sure you have the right to upload, share, or request the content processed through your workspace.
- Manage your users, permissions, and client access decisions responsibly.
3. Acceptable use
You may not use ClientShare in a way that is unlawful, abusive, or harmful to the service, other users, or third parties.
- Do not upload or transmit malicious code, phishing content, or material that infringes the rights of others.
- Do not attempt to bypass security controls, disrupt the service, or probe systems without authorization.
- Do not use the service for spam, fraud, unlawful surveillance, or any illegal activity.
- Do not resell the hosted service in a way that exceeds the scope of your plan or any separate written agreement.
4. Availability and product changes
We may update, improve, suspend, or discontinue parts of the website or hosted service from time to time. We aim to do this in a way that is reasonable for customers, but no hosted service is guaranteed to be uninterrupted at all times.
Maintenance windows, product changes, and security updates may affect features or availability. We will use reasonable judgment in how we manage those changes.
5. Fees and billing
Some ClientShare plans may be free and some may require payment. If you choose a paid plan, the applicable pricing, billing cycle, and any plan-specific terms will be shown at checkout or otherwise provided to you before payment is due.
If fees become overdue, we may suspend or limit access to the hosted service after reasonable notice, unless a shorter timeline is necessary for security or legal reasons.
6. Customer content and intellectual property
You retain ownership of the files, documents, and other content you or your users upload to the hosted service. You grant ClientShare the limited rights needed to host, process, store, transmit, and display that content solely to operate and support the service.
ClientShare retains all rights in the website, hosted product, branding, and related materials, except for open-source components that are licensed separately.
7. Privacy and security
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information for the website and hosted service. By using the hosted service, you acknowledge that policy as part of the overall service relationship.
We use reasonable safeguards intended to protect the service, but no system is perfectly secure and no warranty of absolute security is provided.
8. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the hosted service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, fail to pay applicable fees, create a security risk, or use the service in a way that could harm ClientShare or others.
When practical, we will try to provide notice before suspension or termination. Some situations may require immediate action.
9. Disclaimers and limits of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the website and hosted service are provided on an as-is and as-available basis. ClientShare disclaims implied warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the extent permitted by law, ClientShare will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, goodwill, or data arising from or related to your use of the service.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version here and update the effective date shown at the top of the page.
If you continue using the website or hosted service after the updated Terms take effect, the revised Terms will apply going forward.
